So here it is -- Olde Rone's very own blog!
My plan for this blog is that all the Project Fiction contributors can post their stories here (and art if they want to scan or upload it). That way, people can know what stories have been written before they get the book. I may post some pictures I do here, or may keep using the album on my facebook page for that.
And to answer some questions about how Project Fiction will work:
- I'll start the book (which I may have in the next 2 weeks, but may post here before that). My current plan is to begin with a narrative about a man trying to find Olde Rone, but he doesn't know where he is. This man will be searching for Olde Rone, the Crow, in hopes of gaining some power or boon, or simply knowledge. In his searches, he'll come across many people, all with their own stories, be it warnings, tales of success after encountering Olde Rone, or second-hand stories passed down through the ages.
- Contributors can pick up off this story and continue it, using the man from the first story, or branch off and tell the story of one of the people the man encounters.
- Or, the next story could be totally different - maybe some omniscient retelling of Olde Rone's past. Maybe even from Olde Rone's point of view....
- The theme is Great Hopes and Massive Failures, but don't worry TOO much about sticking to it - it's not like they can reject our book for veering away from the theme!
- There are a few rules however! Mainly, the book cannot have any 3D elements added to it. All pages must fit inside the book, and nothing bulky can be added. Remember: this book will travel the country and needs to be easily packed.
How are multiple people going to work one on book?
- I would really like the contributors to physically add their story/art into the book itself. Remember - this is an art book, not a novel, so the more handmade it looks, the better, in my opinion. I know some of you may have nasty handwriting, however! If this is the case, and you don't have someone with nice handwriting willing to enter it for you, I will :D
- I know some of you aren't nearby, so you can mail me anything you write/draw. You can email if you aren't handwriting or drawing anything.
- When I did Project Sketchbook, I made some pages using Corel Painter, and printed them onto larger pages, which I sewed into and folded to fit inside the smaller book. So, I can do this if you hand write and/or draw anything and mail it to me (or just give to me if you're local and don't want to write in the book for some reason).
- The book measures 8.5 x 5.5, and if it's the same size as Project Sketchbook, is about 32 pages long. I'm going to try to gesso the back of every page, so we can use both sides of the paper. (I did not do this on the sketchbook and wasn't able to use the backs since the inks showed too much). I'll know more when I actually get the blank book in the mail!
- Stories can be whatever you like. They can even be poems. If you only have a few paragraphs that's fine, too.
- Once I figure who all wants to help with this, I want to try to get one story from each, but I assume there may be enough pages for some to write more than one if interested.
